Nya Ferguson, MPH

Nya Ferguson (she/her), Data Specialist, brings over six years of experience in public health evaluation, coalition management, and equity-centered program design. She specializes in transforming complex data into meaningful insights that drive systems change and advance health equity. Her work focuses on using data to advance food security, strengthen community partnerships, and build systems that promote equitable access to healthy food. Skilled in survey design, program evaluation, and health equity reporting, Nya uses tools like Power BI and Tableau to develop clear, actionable dashboards that inform decision-making and strengthen community partnerships.

Throughout her career, Nya has supported food access and public health initiatives across local government, academic, and consulting settings. Her passion for food equity is reflected in her collaboration with the Prince George’s County Food Equity Council and the Institute for Public Health Innovation, where she helped pilot a Food as Medicine program in partnership with Giant Food. The initiative increased access to healthy food by providing produce vouchers and nutrition education to patients managing diet-related chronic illness. This experience deepened her commitment to developing community-informed solutions that address hunger and improve health outcomes.

She has led evaluations of national health awareness programs, facilitated peer-learning networks, and developed culturally responsive strategies that expand access to nutritious food and improve population health outcomes. Her experience bridging policy, practice, and data gives her a holistic perspective on equity, sustainability, and systems change.

Nya holds a Master of Public Health in Behavioral and Community Health and a Bachelor of Science in Family Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her pets, crocheting plushies, and exploring local trails.
